Interview with Víttrea: Marta Aláez, dental hygienist

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Marta Aláez Álvarez, a dental hygienist at Ayala Dental Clinic in Gijón.

Marta will share her experience using dental loupes with the appropriate magnification and how this tool has positively transformed her daily work at the clinic.

Additionally, we will discover the benefits she has experienced thanks to magnification and how these technologies have elevated the quality of her work and her ergonomic comfort.

Since when have you been using binocular loupes, and how has your daily experience with them been?

I started using binocular loupes approximately six months ago, and I must say it has been a significant improvement for my daily practice. Before acquiring them, I observed how my colleagues, especially the doctors, used them regularly. I decided to try them, and the difference in the quality of my work was noticeable from day one. Now, I can’t imagine working without them.

What magnification did you choose for your loupes and why?

I opted for the Galileo 2.7X loupes, just like most of my colleagues. For my work in dentistry, this magnification is ideal. I considered that a higher magnification might be too much for the type of procedures I perform, while a lower one wouldn’t provide the necessary precision. The Galileo 2.7X offers a perfect balance in terms of clarity and expanded field of view.

What are the main benefits you have experienced while working with magnification?

The benefits have been numerous. Magnification has greatly improved my precision and my ability to detect important details during treatments. This directly translates into better quality in the final work.

Additionally, since I had back surgery many years ago, the loupes have also significantly helped maintain proper ergonomic posture. This has greatly reduced the stress and fatigue on my back throughout the day.

Do you have any advice for other hygienists considering starting to use loupes?

I would definitely recommend giving them a try. Once you get used to working with loupes, you can’t do without them. From the moment I arrive at the clinic in the morning, I wear them all day. They are especially useful during periodontal procedures and dental cleanings, where every detail counts.

Although it may take some time to get used to them initially, the improvement in precision and long-term comfort makes it worth it.

How was the purchase and customization process of your loupes with Víttrea?

The process with Víttrea was exceptional. It was very easy and quick. They took detailed measurements to ensure that the loupes perfectly fit my ergonomics and work style.

The customization was key to guaranteeing optimal comfort and clear vision during all my interventions. Although the first few days of adaptation required some patience, the transition was quite smooth, and now I can’t imagine my practice without them.

Thank you, Marta, for your testimony, and especially for trusting the Víttrea team to incorporate the Galileo loupes into your daily work as a dental hygienist.
